Overview

Cables for 25 years of sun, wind and weather.

A renewable energy site is only as reliable as its cabling. Solar cables stay outdoors in full sun for decades, exposed to UV, heat, ozone and moisture, while wind turbine cables face constant movement, twisting and temperature swings inside the tower and nacelle. Neither is easy to reach for repairs, so the cable has to be right the first time.

Elegar Kerpen builds solar and wind cables at our Chakan plant in Pune. Insulation crosslinked on our own E-beam line gives constructions that resist extreme heat, weather problems and mechanical wear and tear.

Where they run

Four sites, one cable house.

One supplier for the solar park, the rooftop array and the wind farm, so a project can source its solar, power and control cables from a single plant.

Rows of solar panels on open ground

Solar parks

Utility-scale, ground-mounted plants. DC cables that run from panel to inverter across open ground, in full sun, dust and monsoon rain.

Solar panels installed on a commercial rooftop

Rooftop and commercial

Factories, warehouses, commercial buildings and homes. Flexible solar cables that route cleanly across a roof and cope with the heat that builds up there.

Wind farms

Onshore turbines and the sites they stand on. Power and control cables that stay dependable across long, exposed installations.

Turbine towers

Inside the turbine. Flexible cables that carry power between the nacelle and the base station while the nacelle turns with the wind.

What they face

Six things a solar or wind cable has to survive.

Renewable sites load a cable in ways an indoor installation never does, year after year with little chance of maintenance. Our constructions are designed around six of them.

Sun and UV

Solar cables sit in direct sunlight for decades. Our insulation polymers are UV, ozone and water resistant, to ensure protection lasts as long as the plant does.

Heat, cold and monsoon

From desert heat to winter cold and monsoon damp, crosslinked insulation and weather-resistant sheaths hold their properties year after year.

Torsion and movement

A turbine nacelle turns with the wind and twists the cables running down the tower. Flexible constructions with torsion resistance elastomeric compounds withstand the repeated flexing.

Moisture and water

Rain, humidity and condensation are part of every outdoor site. Insulation and sheath materials are chosen to resist moisture over the long term.

High DC voltage

Solar strings run at up to 1500 V DC. Our module connection cables are rated DC 1.5 kV and TÜV Rheinland certified to EN 50618 and IEC 62930.

A very long service life

Panels and turbines are built to run for decades, and the cable should not be the part that gives out first. Electron-beam crosslinking gives our module connection cables a rated service life beyond 25 years.

Standards & approvals

Certified to run on renewable sites.

Our solar and wind cable ranges are tested and certified to the international standards these projects specify, backed by TÜV Rheinland approval and company-wide ISO certification.
