From an expansive, fully integrated manufacturing facility, we specialize in designing, developing and producing high-quality cables that enable seamless communication, drive technological advancements and empower industries worldwide.
With our extensive expertise, we export our cables to over 40 countries, serving diverse sectors including Solar & Windpower, Transportation, Defense, Oil & Gas, Process Industry, OEM / Customised Solutions and many more. Our commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction has earned us a strong reputation in the global market.
Setting us apart is our state-of-the-art E-beam line featuring hybrid crossfire technology, a unique offering in India, run by a team trained to hold it to a German standard.

03Our Heritage
How a German cable house became an Indian manufacturer with global reach.
This plant was not founded as an Indian company that later looked abroad. It was built inside a German group, to German drawings, and then had to stand on its own. Each year below marks a point where that changed.
2013
Built as the group's second plant
Chakan opened in 2013 as Leoni's second plant in India, guided from the first drawing by Leoni Kerpen GmbH and its Stolberg works, a plant with a long record in oil and gas and in instrumentation and control cable.
The habits came with the drawings. Chakan was built to do the same work, to the same standard, under the same supervision.
2016
A group decides to leave the cable business
Leoni AG put its weight behind automotive wiring systems and chose to step out of Wires & Cable altogether. A block of business units, Leoni Kerpen and Leoni India among them, was identified and put in front of strategic buyers.
For the people inside those units it was an unsettling notice. For Chakan it was the beginning of an independent life.
2017
Rolling stock and solar
Fresh investment widened the range into Transport Solutions for rolling stock and into solar power cable, both supported by training and supervision from Leoni Studer in Switzerland.
Two of the harder specifications in the industry, learned from the people who wrote them.
2021
The night the water took the other plant
In July 2021 severe floods struck Germany and parts of central Europe. Machinery and inventory at the Stolberg plant were washed away, and Leoni AG declared force majeure to the customers that plant served.
Chakan picked up the open orders. Those customers kept receiving cable while a plant on the other side of the world was under water. What had been the second plant became the only one in the group holding the full set: the designs, the technology, the trained people and the project references.
A supply chain is only as good as its worst week. That week, India delivered.
2023
Independent, and still German by DNA
In August 2022 Leoni AG divested its entire shareholding in Leoni Cable Solutions (India) to Ravicab Cables. In 2023 the company re-branded to Elegar Kerpen.
Indian ownership, German engineering lineage, the same plant and the same people, shipping into Australia, Southeast Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
